Like all good things, this project began with the right planning.
The most important questions had to be clarified in advance: Where can a good background for our group photo be found, preferably in immediate surroundings? Also, how is this background supposed to look like - rather simple and plain? Or perhaps with a pattern, maybe some plants? Dark or more on the brighter side?
After some considering, an idea for the background was set; it should be as simple and as bright as possible. This way, the viewer's attention is drawn solely to the employees without being distracted by anything else. Additionally, large stones or benches could be of advantage, as they could serve as a prop.
Here, potential shooting locations are being scouted....
Once the background was a set decision, the composition of the photo was being worked on. Who is going to be placed where? Do we have any props? Are we sitting down or standing up? These kind of questions were very important, because after all, no one likes to look at boring photos without any dynamics!
In my sketches I also made some versions with our company letters. These are real, three-dimensional letters (a, r, c, o). The idea behind the letters is to loosen up the photo a bit, make it more interesting. Furthermore, no one will be accidentally missing our company's name.
Once the shooting day finally arrived, we grabbed our things and hit the road.
Luckily, the letters were not too heavy!
The shooting went very well. It only took us about 20 minutes until we had enough pictures I was happy with.
Back to our office. Of course, everybody pitched in and helped making sure the letters got back safely.
The pictures turned out exactly how we planned. Unfortunately, the lighting was not the best and therefore it was quite dark. However, this could be fixed easily by adjusting the brightness.
Here is our final result:
